Janet Morrison

Biography

A celebrated Jamaican creative, Janet Morrison has spent over four decades using the power of storytelling to spark change. As an award-winning author, playwright, and filmmaker, her work explores themes of identity, social justice, and inclusion.

She is best known for her children’s book A Different Me, A Better You, which features differently-abled protagonists and was awarded the Jean D’Costa Award and shortlisted for the Bocas Lit Fest Children’s Book Prize. Her powerful radio drama The Fisherman won the BBC International Radio Playwriting Competition, and her short film Silent Hearts was featured in international film festivals.

Beyond the page and screen, Janet has worked extensively in communications for social and behavioral change, leading projects focused on HIV awareness, gender-based violence, and community development throughout the Caribbean.

Honored as a QORIHC Queen in 2020/2021, Janet Morrison continues to inspire with her deep commitment to telling stories that educate, empower, and transform lives.
