Biography
Born Ann‑Marie McKoy in Jamaica, she rose to fame as a dancer and model before winning the Dancehall Queen competition in 2003, earning the title Dancehall Queen 2003–2004. Best known as Mad Michelle, she is credited as one of the originators of the popular Dutty Wine dance move and gained nationwide recognition for her mastery of it.
In March 2024, Ann‑Marie McKoy was selected among 31 influential women in entertainment to be honored at the 7th Annual Queens Of Reggae Island Honorary Ceremony (QORIHC). This prestigious recognition affirms her enduring legacy in dancehall culture from trailblazing Dancehall Queen to recording artiste and mentor and highlights the importance of celebrating foundational women in Jamaica’s cultural scene, ensuring their contributions remain visible and honored.
